A big to-do

We enjoyed a wonderful visit with R.G. and his family this past weekend. JFC joined us all on Sunday night after church. I think we all had a real good time, kids running around til all hours barefoot, guitars, singing whatever old songs we could remember.

Naddy's beehive is still not done. The garden needs lots more work before planting time. I still have to string a whole bunch of electric fence wire and repair some of the barbed wire where it is weak. I need to buy a calf or two, and some piglets, if I can still find them. I have hundreds of Red Cedar saplings to kill. I want to finish wiring the barn lighting on the red barn and repair and replace a lot of the wood. I want to take the white barn down and salvage a lot of the still good lumber. And that's just outside. Inside I'll tear up all the carpet and assess the condition of the foundation and floor, which will probably lead to lots of removing and replacing of floor boards, joists, and sill plate. Then I'll come up with a plan to add a room or two. Lord willing in all of this, these are some of the things I want to do. Finding the time to do all this and work a regular job is where the problem is. Right now, though, I've got a batch of brew to bottle.

But the work crew is getting more capable all the time. The kids are able to handle a lot of the work around here, and more and more often when I get home from work I find that a lot is getting done while I'm gone.
